Course Content
The Course introduces the issue of Pedagogical coordination, by contextualizing this topic and specifying its theoretical profile, and the contexts of intervention. The first part of the Course focuses on the set of actions and tasks concerning the professionalism of the Pedagogical coordinator. The second is dedicated to intervention methodologies and practical skills inherent to the figure of Pedagogical coordinator of Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC)

Learning Objectives
he Course aims at providing:
a) historical knowledge on the reasons underlying the birth of the figure of the Pedagogical coordinator, in educational and training contexts;
b) methodological knowledge, useful to identify the actions of Pedagogical coordination within educational and training contexts, in which the professional figure of educator is called to act;
c) ability to solve specific problems in the work contexts in which the pedagogical coordinator operates;
d) methodological skills, aimed at design and carry out intervention strategies, concerning Pedagogical coordination;
c) tools to develop autonomy of judgment, to recognize the onset of relational difficulties within educators’ working groups;
4) communication skills, in relation to the different languages that characterize educational actions, aimed at fostering relationships within work groups.

Type of Assessment
For non-attending students, the final exam will be written, and it will be articulated in the following ways: they will have to answer n. 15 close-ended questions concerning the Course reference book (to each correct answer, n. 1 point will be assigned; instead, to every wrong answer, or omitted, 0 points will be assigned), and n. 5 open-ended questions on the articles uploaded on open access MOODLE platform (to each open-ended answer will be assigned from 0 to 4 points). Students who answer all questions correctly will get a maximum evaluation of 30/30, and possible laude.
For attending students, the final exam will be carried out according to the following procedure: they are required to carry out a group activity during the Course, on a specific topic treated during the lessons, and to present a paper – once more, in group – at the end of the Course, through a PPT presentation and a written report. Up to 25 points will be assigned for this activity. To complete the exam, attending students will have to answer n. 2 open-ended questions during the exam sessions officially planned. Students who have carried out the group work correctly, and who correctly answered the above.mentioned n. 2 open questions, will get the maximum evaluation of 30/30, and possible laude.
The duration of the final test is 60’.

Course program
The Course reconstructs the general lines of the history and evolution of the figure of the Pedagogical coordinator in Italy, underlying the strategic role of this figure in supporting educators working in services. The Course shows the factors behind the social and economic transformations, which over the last 30 years have led to the expansion of educational and care professionalism, particularly with regard to early childhood. The Course also provides methodological tools and operational strategies to perform the function of Pedagogical coordinator in territorial services.
