Learning Objectives
Knowledge of the categories of online teaching. Understanding of basic norms for a good online educational relationship. Applying this knowledge through the implementation of an online course on a topic of interest. Ability to evaluate the role of context. Communicate successfully and respectfully on the Web. Ability to adapt an online platform to one's own teaching and educational needs.
Prerequisites
No previous knowledge needed. Fair English knowledge needed (B2).
Teaching Methods
The form of teaching will be that of a workshop. Classroom hours will be used to discuss each student's projects. During the course of the work each student will periodically present the progress and problems encountered. Problems will be solved through discussion in the classroom. The content will be provided by the teacher in the course of the discussion. The discussion will be extended through the forum of the University's Moodle system.
Further information
A special reception will be offered in order to offer an additional space for discussion, half a day per week.
Type of Assessment
The evaluation will take into account the results of the continuous monitoring of the activities and the quality of the platform created by each student. The final assessment will consist of an oral discussion of the whole experience in order to verify the achievement of the stated objectives.
Course program
In addition to studying the proposed content, the course involves the creation of a website to host a course to be delivered in e-learning mode.
Students will be invited to open a Wordpress blog. They will have to learn how to choose a theme, trying different ones and exploring both its graphic features and functions. They will have to choose it in order to use the blog as a Learning Management System.
They will then have to choose a theme of interest to them and organize a course on it. They will have to decide the quantity and form of textual and multimedia content, as well as the spaces for interaction, within the site or through other online aggregation tools.
The course will host both textual and multimedia contents (not just one type). The techniques of production and post-production of multimedia materials will be discussed and experimented in the laboratory. The modalities for an effective and correct communication will be discussed.
Priority will be given to the use of Free Software and free web services. The technological and ethical nature of free software in connection with online training will be discussed.
